If you receive one, it\u2019s important to understand what it means and what the potential next steps are.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is a Notice to Appear?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A Notice to Appear (NTA) document is delivered to notify the\nrecipient that the government has started proceedings to remove them. An NTA\ndocument requires the recipient to make a court appearance. Because some\nscammers will attempt to forge these documents, it\u2019s important to only take\nthem seriously if you receive them in person from an immigration officer, by mail,\nor through your attorney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you receive a Notice to Appear document, you will have\na minimum of ten days before you will need to appear in court. It\u2019s also\nimportant to contact your attorney and carefully review the information on the\nform, as it may be inaccurate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Information Does the Document Contain?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When an immigration official completes your Notice to\nAppear, there are three boxes that could be checked. This will tell you why the\nUnited States is interested in proceeding with deportation. They may indicate\nthat you are an arriving alien, an alien present who hasn\u2019t been admitted or\nparoled, or admitted but removable. In addition to forms that might indicate\nwrong information about your name or address, they may also have the improper box\nchecked.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does an NTA Mean You Will Be Deported?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Not necessarily. There are multiple ways that you can still\navoid deportation after getting a Notice to Appear with the help of your\nlawyer.
