What should you know about fianc\u00e9 visas?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a Fianc\u00e9 Visa?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fianc\u00e9 visas are a specific type of visa issued by U.S.\nCitizenship and Immigration Services to non-US citizens with intention to marry\na US resident. The main advantage of obtaining a fianc\u00e9 visa is that the\nnon-citizen partner is permitted to enter the United States on the basis that\nthey will marry within 90 days. After marriage, the K-1 visa recipient is then\neligible to apply for permanent United States residence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifying for a Fianc\u00e9 Visa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a hand full of requirements that both partners\nmust meet in order to qualify for a fianc\u00e9 visa:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One of the partners must already be a US\ncitizen.<\/li><li>The marriage must take place within 90 days of\nqualifying.<\/li><li>Both partners must be legally eligible to marry\neach other. <\/li><li>Income requirements must be met to confirm that\nlife after marriage is financially feasible.<\/li><li>Both partners must have physically met at least\nonce within the previous two years. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fianc\u00e9 Visa vs Marriage Green Card<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your fianc\u00e9 is a citizen outside of the United States,\nthere are multiple ways they can go about legally becoming a US resident. Besides\nobtaining a K-1 visa, you also have the option of marrying outside of the\nUnited States. From there, the US citizen partner will be able to sponsor their\nnew spouse for a green card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of these options have their pros and cons. Ultimately,\nyou will want to base your choice around where you would prefer to marry, the\ntimeframe for moving to the United States and cost.
